The Fallen Angel

Perhaps they enraged him because of the innocence they represented--an innocence he seemed to have lost.

He closed his eyes.

His innocence.

But how could he have lost it? Was it really lying at the feet of his father, destroyed, disgraced, smoldering; burned as utterly as the left side of his face?

His eyes burned.

He lifted his right hand to touch the maimed skin over his left eye, running his fingers over the soft, discolored folds in a skilled caress.

His eyes burned.

Zuko really is a fallen angel...

He is torn...

Does he retain some of his precious innocence?
Or is his innocence, like his honor, utterly destroyed?

This drawing was inspired by 's "Tattered Angel," depicting her original character, Jikan, with angel wings.

I began drawing this picture in school the day after I saw "Tattered Angel," and I had to put it aside because of exams and otherwise.

Shortly thereafter, I went onto my deviantART account, and saw that Sajira had posted a sketch called "Zuko Fallen Angel!"

I had a conniption, and left a comment about the absolute strangeness that we would have both started drawing the same picture...

Ah, us Avatards think alike.

Anyways, this is the picture that (I SWEAR) was NEVER copied from Sajira's, because it was started before she'd even drawn hers (I'd imagine)/without knowledge that she'd even wanted to draw something similar.

Also, the title was what I had in mind whilst drawing the picture originally, so I'm keeping it.

Once again, I'm not copying ; this was my own brainchild!
