another commission process tutorial by Luminosion another commission process tutorial by Luminosion
Another in-progress commission ...

I'm almost done with it at this point, but I thought I'd upload these screencaps to share a bit of my process again!!

I start out with lines, add base color layer underneath, and then add another layer over both of those (where I almost exclusively use the pencil tool and color wheel). In Painter 11, the Real Soft Pencil tool works remarkably well for blending (a lot like ... well ... a real pencil). You just press lighter for lighter application of color, and voila! Easy to make blended fur effects.

Honestly the pencil tool is my tool of choice for fur, fabric, or any other surface with a light rough texture. I use other tools for other things, of course (airbrush is good for smooth lines or soft shading) ... Guess I should upload the other process pics/pseudo-tutorials I have lying around my computer ... !

My process is sinfully simple, but time-consuming. And this probably isn't very informative, but if you like the way it looks, I recommend trying your hand at it!

Also feel free to comment if you want me to explain anything else more in-depth. I'm currently working on a tutorial requested by one of my best friends!!

She's incredibly talented; I'm not sure why she wants my help!! Go check her out if you like amazing art! :iconaleyo:

So what is for anyway? A fanfic of some sorts? Looks interesting and there's a lot of emotion in the characters.

So that's really interesting--you have a rough lineart layer that remains part of the piece throughout, really soft underneath everything, and then you paint more colors and more lines on top of that IN THE SAME LAYER???

I might try that with a quick piece so I can prevent myself from getting too involved in the lineart. That's another issue I need to work on, but I don't think there are tutorials for that. @.@

Wow, remember when you to a place you've always wanted to go to and you get there and you're just in awe when you see it? That's how i'm feeling right now.

The colors and expressions are just mind blowing as always, just wow... Coldplay - Paradise just started playing in my head. Can't wait to see the tutorial you're putting together as well :>
